Various – Warsaw's Jewish Mermaid - Syrena Recordings From The Orvomaa Archive 1909-1933 Klezmer, Chanson Music Album Compilation

In conjunction with the Music Archive Finland, Renair Records announce another disc in their series exploring the history of Jewish recorded music. Until its destruction during the War, Warsaw, together with Berlin, was at the cultural and intellectual intersection of East and Western Europe. Known as the Paris of the East, its musical, literary, artistic, and theatrical flourishing was in no small part due to its extraordinary ethnic and cultural diversity. Most traces of this period vanished in the devastation of the 1940s but thanks to the survival of some precious recordings made in this period you can hear echoes of that rich culture. The Syrena (Mermaid) label covered all aspects of musical activity in Poland between 1909 and the end of the 1930s. All human life is on this CD.

The album is a collection of obscure and definitely rocking tracks from the archives of some of the coolest vocal harmony groups of the era, including The Ideals, The Eventuals, The Neons and Little Anthony and the Imperials.

Most of these recordings were previously available only on hard-to-find vinyl and have been carefully remastered to realize their full sonic potential. Various – We’re An American Band (A Journey Through The USA Hard Rock Scene 1967-1973) Acid Psychedelic Music Album Compilation 😎

In the late 60s, the parallel emergence of psychedelia and the blues-based power trio format saw pop evolve into rock. In America, bands became harder, heavier, rawer, and louder to a back drop of the Vietnam War, street drugs, and increasingly powerful amps. Commercially successful acts like Vanilla Fudge, Steppenwolf, Blue Cheer, and Iron Butterfly spearheaded a new wave of bands whose sound would later be codified as heavy metal.
Over three CDs and four hours of music, ‘We’re An American Band’ charts hard rock’s evolution during the late 60s and early 70s, culminating in Grand Funk’s game-changing, chart-topping late 1973 single of the same name. In the late 60s, the parallel emergence of psychedelia and the blues-based power trio format saw pop evolve into rock. In America, bands became harder, heavier, rawer, and louder to a back drop of the Vietnam War, street drugs, and increasingly powerful amps. Commercially successful acts like Vanilla Fudge, Steppenwolf, Blue Cheer, and Iron Butterfly spearheaded a new wave of bands whose sound would later be codified as heavy metal.
Over three CDs and four hours of music, ‘We’re An American Band’ charts hard rock’s evolution during the late 60s and early 70s, culminating in Grand Funk’s game-changing, chart-topping late 1973 single of the same name.
